André 3000 is officially an experimental jazz guy now.

He’s been playing the flute all over the place, and his all-flute album New Blue Sun just nabbed a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year

The LP is also nominated for best alternative jazz album and best instrumental composition.

But despite André’s success as a flute player, Pharrell is confident that he’ll return to Hip Hop. For years now, 3 Stacks said he’s too old to rap and has nothing to rhyme about anymore.

“People got all this judgment and they don’t understand,”Pharrell told GQ about André. “People should just give him his time. He’s going to be back. That feeling finds you — you can’t run from it … He’s not running, he’s just saying he’s not going to force it … What you love about him was when he was compelled. It’ll be back … When [he] does he’s going to come in hot.”

Is Pharrell right? Will André eventually put down the flute and pick up the mic again?
