It might not show in record sales, but Mustard became a much bigger artist after producing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

The Cali beatmaker also appeared on stage with Kendrick at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Yesterday, he sat down with Big Boy and talked about Kendrick performing “Not Like Us” at the Super Bowl. Mustard spoke about the crowd shouting the infamous “a-minor” line on top of that. [Jump to the 6:50 mark]

“It felt electrifying,” he said. “Everybody was just screaming. It was just crazy. Like a wave, you know? The whole crowd just carried that moment.”

Mustard was later asked what advice he’d give Drake to get past the Super Bowl performance and all the hate he’s received since battling Kendrick.

“I actually don’t think about what he could do,” he answered. “I just try to stay aligned with pure stuff, like just being on the right side of things—no tactics, no gimmicks. Just make music, man. Make good music, and you’ll be fine.”

Are you surprised that Mustard didn’t take the opportunity to diss Drake in that interview?
