Missy Elliott Gives Her Stamp Of Approval To Dancer's Re-Creation Of 'The Rain' Video

Viral phenom Yung BBQ got a major co-sign when Missy Elliott showed love to the dancer recreating 1997’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” video. Missy heaped praise on the Instagram clip, which featured BBQ running out in the actual rain in her own version of the iconic artist’s trash bag outfit.

“Hold all the way up,” the Songwriters Hall of Fame member wrote. “I PROMISE I WAS NOT READY for the Me Me Me Me & the I got the Armor oil to shine up the stain! Nor was I PREPARD for the Vicky Vicky Vicky part at the end either oh you SNAPPED! @yungbbq #TheRain @timbaland.”

The original post by BBQ has racked up well over 1 million views along with an extra 761,000+ from Missy’s repost as of Monday (August 31).

BBQ, whose real name is Alexis Feacher, has grabbed attention for her meticulous tributes to artists, cartoons and even other viral videos. She’s attained over 1 million followers on Instagram, garnering praise for renditions of everything from JAY-Z’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” visuals to Disney’s A Goofy Movie.

While BBQ’s homage to Missy is one of her most popular posts yet, it wasn’t the first time “The Rain” video has been recreated in 2020.

Missy also brought back her old look and moves during a lighthearted exchange with Guapdad 4000 on Twitter. Earlier this year, Guapdad challenged her to respond to his version of the “Supa Dupa Fly” dance and got a surprise when she took him up on the offer.
