As the Hip Hop community grapples with the shocking news of MF DOOM’s death, one of his former collaborators is taking the news particularly hard.

Bishop Nehru, who weaved together NehruvianDoom with the elusive MC in 2014 and NehruvianDoom (Redux) in 2019, joined the Twitter procession to express his condolences shortly after DOOM’s wife Jasmine made the announcement on Thursday (December 31).

“LONG LIVE THE METAL FACE VILLAIN DOOM,” he wrote in all caps, a subtle tribute to the “Just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name” rhymer. “YOU MADE MY DREAM COME TRUE. ILL NEVER FORGET YOUR ENERGY. I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING MAN FUCKKK.”

But after a DOOM fan accused Bishop of “fumbling” his early MetalFace cosign, the 24-year-old rhymer promised he was more determined than ever to prove everyone wrong.

“This shit hit way different now,” he replied. “Lol you just created a beast.”

DOOM was most recently featured on Bishop’s 2019 album Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts, contributing vocals to the song “Meathead.” As Bishop tells HipHopDX, “Working with him was a dream come true. I loved his music before I met him and to even meet him was enough. But for him to see something in me outside of music and want to help me grow, it means everything.”

The London-born MC also appeared on Bishop’s 2018 project Elevators (Act I & II) and was a consistent presence in his life. Bishop expounded on his thoughts in an Instagram post, calling DOOM his “first mentor.”

“I SWEAR I DONT BELIEVE THIS SHIT,” he wrote. “THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING MY G. IF NIGGAS WOULDA TOLD ME ID LOSE YOU AND KOBE IN THE SAME YEAR ID NEVER BELIEVE IT. I USED TO ARGUE ON THE BUS WITH NIGGAS ABOUT YOUR MUSIC BRO. DEAD GET INTO FIGHTS. WHEN I MET YOU AND YOU LIKED MY MUSIC YOU REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH IT MEANT THAT YOU EVEN KNEW ME.

“I MET THE FAMILY AND I HOPE EVERYONE IS STRONG AND GOOD MAN. I KNOW ILL SEE YOU AGAIN IN THE ASTRALS. ROLLING ONE UP FOR YOU RIGHT NOW. IMMA EVEN SIP SOME HENNY FOR YOU MAN. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. TILL WE MEET AGAIN. MY FIRST MENTOR. THANK YOU. ILL KEEP MY LABRADORITE IN NY LEFT POCKET ALWAYS BROTHER. NEHRUVIANDOOM.”
