Megan’s management Roc Nation provided a signal boost to her challenge by sharing the clip on its social media platforms.

“@theestallion’s #CaptainHookChallenge is officially underway!” Roc Nation announced Twitter. “Who’s ready for the official video??”

“Captain Hook” appears on Hot Girl Meg’s Suga EP, which was released amid a very public dispute with her label 1501 Certified Entertainment.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Lawsuit Against 1501 Label Implicates J. Prince As Intimidator

After Megan claimed 1501 was blocking her from dropping new music, the Houston-bred rapper sued the label and its owner Carl Crawford. A Harris County judge quickly granted her a temporary restraining order that allowed her to put out the nine-track EP on March 6.

Thanks to the judge, “Captain Hook” was able to see the light of day and spark a dance challenge.
