Rap isn’t in the best place.
Sales are down, and no rapper was nominated for a Grammy in the Album, Song, or Record of the Year categories. Â
Lil Yachty thinks he knows why.
“The state of Hip Hop right now is a lot of imitation. It’s a lot of quick, low-quality music being put out. It’s a lot less risk-taking, it’s a lot less originality…People are too safe now. I’d rather take the risk than take the L,” Boat said.
Does that sound right? Â Or is Yachty just trying to draw attention to his last album, which was nothing if not artistically risky?
