Kim Kardashian has emerged as a major advocate for criminal justice reform and prison reform. Now, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is raising awareness for a No Limit soldier who has spent nearly a decade behind bars.
On Sunday (August 16), Kardashian took to Twitter to educate her more than 66 million followers about the trial of No Limit rapper C-Murder (née Corey Miller), brother of No Limit mogul Master P. The tweet subsequently led to C-Murder becoming a trending Twitter topic.
“#FreeCoreyMiller,” Kardashian’s tweet began. “On January 18, 2002 a tragedy occurred when a young man was killed. The next day Corey Miller was arrested for the murder. The jury convicted Corey 10-2 and he was sentenced him to life in prison. If his trial was today, the jury would have had to be unanimous for him to be convicted. Since his trial, witnesses have recanted, new evidence of his potential innocence has come to light, and there are claims of jurors being pressured into voting to convict.”
She continued, “True justice for the young man requires that the person who actually killed him be held responsible and that Corey Miller he returned home to his kids. Today I’m teaming up with @MonicaDenise, @JessicaJackson and @EdyHaney to #FreeCoreyMiller.”
“My heart goes out to the family of Steve Thomas. I can only imagine how hard this is and my intention is never to open up this painful wound but to help find the truth behind this tragedy.

Miller was arrested for the shooting death of 16-year-old Steve Thomas inside of a Harvey, Louisiana nightclub in 2002. After initially being found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, he was granted a retrial in 2009. However, he was once again found guilty and sentenced to a mandatory life sentence.
Kardashian joins Monica, Miller’s ex-girlfriend, in calling for his release. The “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days)” singer shared a photo of Miller on her Instagram stories, making it clear she’ll fight for his freedom no matter what.
“You are not alone,” Monica wrote alongside a photo of her ex in happier times. “The fight is about to change because you will not fight alone! Your daughter and Tru family deserve to have you with them! I’m about to be on some other sh*t @cmurder.”
BET’s recent No Limit Chronicles series highlighted Miller’s case in the fifth episode, sparking many fans to once more call for Miller’s release — despite a 2019 ruling from Judge Steven Enright of 24th Judicial District Court deciding. Although two key witnesses recanted their testimony, it wasn’t enough to secure a new trial.
It didn’t take long before Hip Hop fans began to wonder if Kardashian’s input would help swing the tide towards granting C-Murder his freedom as well as Mac, another No Limit artist serving 30 years to life behind bars.
