New York, NY – A new Diplomats album will eventually make its way to the world.
Dipset member Jim Jones sat down with Baller Alert for a new interview on Tuesday (June 23), and the topic of his group came up. When asked if there would be another project, Capo confirmed they’d be getting together to work on one upon Juelz Santana‘s pending release from prison.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Jones said of the album. “Juelz should be home soon. I look forward to us creating music when he gets home, so yes, there will be another Diplomatic project.”
The effort would stand as the Set’s fourth studio album, and follows their official reunion album, November 2018’s Diplomatic Ties. Three years prior during one of their short-lived reunions, the group came together to release their first project in nearly a decade, a mixtape named American Dream.
Elsewhere in the interview, Jones gave an update on Santana’s status as he completes the 27-month sentence he received for unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance at Newark Airport.
“He’s doing pretty good, in good spirits getting his weight up,” Jones said of his longtime friend and collaborator. “His complexion is clear; I feel good. I can’t wait to see him.”
After serving 13 months in April, Santana’s wife Kimbella launched a petition to secure her husband’s early release from prison amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As of press time, the petition has acquired 7,076 signatures – just short of its intended 7,500. Months earlier in December, Kimbella said he’d be home in Summer 2020, ahead of his scheduled February 10, 2021 release date.
