This year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ballot also includes Rage Against The Machine, Dionne Warwick, and Tina Turner, amongst others.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled the nominees for the class of 2021.

Leading this year’s list of prospective honorees is a prestigious batch of era-defining rappers, singers, and bands, including JAY-Z, Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Fela Kuti, Rage Against The Machine, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, Foo Fighters, Todd Rundgren, Kate Bush, DEVO, Iron Maiden, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, and The Go-Go’s.

Several of this year’s nominees — Hov, Blige, and Rage Against The Machine — are in their first year of eligibility, while others — Warwick, Fela, and LL Cool J — have checked all of the boxes for consideration and are just landing on the nominee list for the first time. And still more — Turner (as a solo artist) and Khan — have been on the list of nominees for years, but have yet to make the final cut of inductees. In order to be eligible, an artist or band must have released their debut commercial recording at least 25 years prior to their nomination. Carole King and Tina Turner are both being nominated for a second time as solo artists. Turner was previously inducted alongside Ike, while King was first inducted as a songwriter.

This year’s finalists will be announced at some point in May and an induction ceremony will take place over the summer, airing on HBO later this year.

Last year’s inductees included The Notorious B.I.G., The Doobie Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, Whitney Houston and more. The ceremony was scaled back and formated as a TV special sans musical performances.

Check out the full list of 2021 nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame below. Stay tuned for the finalists to be announced in the months ahead.
