The-Dream’s Instagram Live battle with Sean Garrett has opened up JAY-Z’s vault. TIDAL has dropped a previously unreleased demo of Hov’s “Holy Grail” after The-Dream previewed the song during his “Battle of the Songwriters” clash with Garrett.
“Holy Grail” features Justin Timberlake and appears on the 2013 album Magna Carta Holy Grail. But the demo version has The-Dream handling the vocals instead of Timberlake, giving fans an alternate take on JAY’s track.
“I wasn’t tight – much respect to @jtimberlake,” The-Dream said of his version. “I wasn’t tight at all. However, I did feel that from the pain and what it meant for me.. to voice that and to sing that.. it just meant something.”

The treat from TIDAL arrives just a few weeks after Jigga fans got some new music from Hov courtesy of Jay Electronica’s A Written Testimony. Jay Elec’s long-awaited debut album was released on March 13 and featured the Roc Nation boss on eight of its 10 tracks.
Despite Hov’s omnipresence on the LP, all of his vocals were uncredited. But The-Dream happened to be one of the LP’s credited guests, contributing to two of the album cuts.
