Recognition from J. Cole is presumably one of the best forms of accolades for a rising rapper from Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina — and that’s exactly what Morray got. The burgeoning artist released his new single “Quicksand” on Thursday (October 29) and received instant praise from the Dreamville Records boss who commented on one of his Instagram posts.

“This shit AMAZING,” Cole wrote, along with a bunch of mind blown and rocket emojis.

In response to the approval, Morray said, “Damn bro blessed g thank you so much.”

Quicksand OUT NOW!

Produced by Ant Chamberlain and Brandon Buttner, “Quicksand” is Morray’s first ever release with no other songs available on his streaming pages. On the track, he talks about trying to stay out of trouble and plotting ways to make money from a young age.

“Since a jit stood tall with a kick stand,” he raps. “Thinking of a plan to get quick bands/Falling in deep with the quick sand/Flag out my ass, no quick brand/I was packing on the pounds, got my weight up/Had beef on the streets, had to stay up/Betty Crocker showed me how to bake a cake bruh/Doing that put everything I love at stake bruh.”

Over the years, Cole has co-signed other North Carolina rappers such as Lute, who he signed to Dreamville, and DaBaby, who was featured on “Under the Sun” off the Revenge of the Dreamers III album.

In addition to Cole, other notable names to praise him include Rick Ross, G Herbo, Tay Keith, Marshmello and Yella Beezy. The Marshmello co-sign makes sense considering the DJ/producer’s manager Moe Shalizi is working with Morray and other artists on the newly founded Pick Six Records. Aside from Morray, the only other release on the label so far is a song called “Goose Down” by Los Angeles artist Kameron.
