Twitter erupted with shock and horror on Wednesday (October 14) when Donald Trump’s senior campaign advisor Katrina Pierson thanked Ice Cube for helping them with “The Platinum Plan,” a proposal that includes prosecuting the Ku Klux Klan and Antifa as terrorist organizations, making Juneteenth a federal holiday and efforts to bolster Black economic prosperity.

People simply couldn’t wrap their head around the idea the same man responsible for “Arrest The President” and “Fuck Tha Police” could be, in any way, tied to Trump’s administration. But rather than burrow his head in the sand, the N.W.A legend doubled down on his stance and further explained his intentions early Thursday morning (October 15).

“Black progress is a bipartisan issue,” he tweeted. “When we created the Contract With Black America we excepted to talk to both sides of the isle. Talking truth to power is part of the process.”

When reminded about the song “Arrest The President,” which Cube wrote about Trump in 2018, he admitted he was “advising” the polarizing president, writing, “I will advise anybody on the planet who has the power to help Black Americans close the enormous wealth gap.”

Finally, Cube addressed a 2016 tweet in which he emphatically stated he would never endorse someone like Trump.

“I haven’t endorsed anybody,” he said.

Needless to say, Cube’s reputation as a hardcore gangsta rapper is taking a hit on Twitter, but he’s also receiving a healthy amount of support as well.

Comments such as “They don’t get it… It’s called working together to better the system. There’s many who appreciate you” and “you see the problem here. @icecube your “not allowed” to even try to work with trump even if it betters a good cause. It’s not about policy, it’s about a systemic takeover of American values. Good Job being real!!” are more common than one would think.

For Cube, it’s evidently bigger than Trump — and he doesn’t really seem to care what people have to say about it.
