Doechii’s Drops Debut TDE EP ‘she / her / black bitch’ Ft. SZA & Rico Nasty
Doechii drops her first TDE project featuring SZA, Rico Nasty, and more.
Doechii tops off her tremendous summer by unleashing her first TDE EP, she / her / black bitch.
The Tampa native blessed with a voice that she can present as fiery, bubbly and mainly feisty has showcased her versatility on previous projects like Oh The Places You’ll Go. Her delivery is what sets her apart from the slew of female rappers right now: it’s swift and straightforward always leaving listeners eager for more.
she / her / black bitch features production from Hit-Boy, Kal Banx, Bankroll Got It, and Deven Malik. On it, you’ll find her upbeat bop “Persuasive” which is arguably a song of the summer. Her label mate SZA recently joined her for the remix, so that edition appears on the EP. “Bitch I’m Nice,” her explosive single is also on the five-track release.
The newest tracks are “Swamp Bitches” with Rico Nasty which Doechii teased a few days back, “Bitches Be” featuring Jst Ray and “This Bitch Matters.”
As for how she came up with the name for the EP she shares:
“Many times I’ve been referred to as a “bitch” as a way to gaslight me out of certain spaces, something I think many people can relate to in one way or another. Lots of people will call you various names for doing something differently. So I decided to take ownership of the ‘black bitch’ and title my EP she/ her/ black bitch and reclaim that motherf***ing power. So if you’ve ever been put down for being yourself, just remember you’re powerful and unapologetic- these songs are for you.”
In recent months the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she made her debut on television and the BET Awards stage emphasizes that Doechii is a star that is also breathing life into live performances. The level of confidence and fun Doechii brings to the rap game is evident in her new EP. We’re buckling up for her growing presence in hip-hop and whatever comes next.
