During the inaugural Netflix Is A Joke festival, on Saturday, D’Angelo took the stage at the Hollywood Bowl during Dave Chappelle’s set.

We might be in for new music from D’Angelo. On Saturday evening, the legendary neo-soul crooner was a special guest during Dave Chappelle‘s comedy set at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, where the comedian performed for a sold-out crowd.

During his set, D’Angelo treated attendees to an electric guitar solo of 1973 song “Babies Makin’ Babies” by Sly and the Family Stone. Also performing throughout the night were Erykah Badu and Anderson .Paak under his DJ moniker DJ Pee Wee. Last February, D’Angelo headlined a virtual performance of VERZUZ at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, performing alongside H.E.R., Keyon Harrold and Redman and Method Man.

Fellow comedian Jeff Ross served as host of the evening while Luenell, Pete Davidson, and Donnell Rawlings also made appearances. According to Variety, during Davidson’s set, the comedian references his rocky relationship with Kanye West, comparing Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscar’s to West’s graphic music video for “Eazy.” In the first visual for the song, West kidnaps a claymation version of Davidson before decapitating him. Davidson also addressed the rapper making false rumors that he had contracted AIDS, later calling West a “genius” for making him go to the doctor for a check-up.

Davidson also joked about West publicly harassing his wife Kim Kardashian – who Davidson is currently dating – even sending her a full truck of roses. “Am I the only one who secretly hopes Kanye will go full Mrs. Doubtfire?” Davidson joked about West, likening him to Robin Williams’ character in the 1993 film.

Executive produced by Chappelle, the Chappelle’s Home Team series will continue to release standalone specials on Netflix this year.
