After years of speculation, Da Brat finally confirmed her sexuality on Instagram after her fiancée Jessica Dupart surprised the veteran rapper with a new Bentley. During a recent conversation with The Ricky Smiley Morning Show, she explained why she kept their relationship quiet for so long.

“I always been an advocate from privacy pretty much to protect the interest of the other party involved because if you’re not used to this life and the scrutiny that come with it, it can break you,” she said around the 4-minute mark. “I’ve been talked about for way over 20 years or more so my coat of armor is pretty thick, so I learn what to say and what not to say.”

Da Brat added she felt uncomfortable sharing the details of her personal life because homosexuality wasn’t as accepted in the 90’s as it is now.

“I never confirmed anything because, you know, in the 90’s, it wasn’t cool, but when you get blessed and somebody love you like you never been loved before,” she said. “It’s like a whole different experience. With new levels, come new devils and they out there and coming for us, but we don’t care. We strong and we can get through anything together and I’m very happy to say I have someone like BB Judy.”

Da Brat’s Girlfriend Surprises Her With A Bentley For Her Birthday

Dupart is the CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products. She presented the luxury car to the So So Def artist last week, which Da Brat revealed Instagram.

“Never have I EVER,” she wrote. “Needless to say… I’ve always been a kind of private person until I met my heart’s match who handles some things differently than I do. Thank you baby @darealbbjudy for far more than this incredible birthday gift. I have never experienced this feeling. It’s so overwhelming that often I find myself in a daze hoping to never get pinched to see if it’s real so I can live in this dream forever. SEE @darealbbjudy page for the BEST SURPRISE EVER.”
