Cardi and Megan’s collaborative single racked up roughly 93 million streams in the U.S. in its first week, which broke the record for most streams for a song in its debut week. Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” previously held the honor with 85.3 million streams in February 2019.

“WAP” also made history in the United Kingdom when it hit No. 1 on the UK’s Offical Singles Chart. It marked the first time a female rap collaboration had ever reached the top of the chart.

Cardi and Megan’s “WAP” has been a juggernaut since its release, going gold just one week after it dropped. The track’s video has also attained over 197 million views on YouTube as of press time.

Although Cardi is experiencing more success in her career thanks to “WAP,” she’s been dealing with some turmoil in her personal life. She filed for divorce on Tuesday (September 15), signifying the end of her three-year marriage to Migos member Offset.
