Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s buzzworthy single “WAP” didn’t need much time to sell 500,000 units. After Chart Data reported the song was eligible for gold certification, the collaborative track’s creators celebrated its quick success on Friday (August 14).

“In 1 week .Thank you sooo much every Wap havers and any WAP lovers,” Cardi wrote via Instagram. “Thankful and grateful for your support .Thank you @theestallion ….I’m thinking about doing something special I just gotta put it together.”

Megan added, “We already went gold in 1 WEEK @iamcardib thank you for having me and thank you to everyone enjoying the record !!!! #WAP.”

Cardi and Megan’s “WAP” hit streaming services on August 7. The two also dropped a music video to coincide with the song’s release and quickly racked up millions of views on YouTube.

As of August 14, “WAP” has amassed just under 90 million views. The track is projected to debut at No. 1 on the next Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Although Cardi and Megan’s collaboration is doing huge numbers in term of streams and viewership, it’s also faced criticism for its sexually-charged content. CeeLo Green said the “WAP” duo and Nicki Minaj were desperate for attention but later apologized for his comments.
