“I’ve always tried to represent and uphold the legacy of the late, great J Dilla, through all of my albums,” Busta Rhymes said in a new interview.

Busta Rhymes revealed in a new interview that he has over 300 J Dilla beats that the late producer gave to the rapper prior to his passing. While speaking with Cheo Hodari Coker for GQ, Busta talked about his new album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, which includes a track produced by both Dilla and Pete Rock titled “Strap Yourself Down.” After briefly talking about the track, he goes on to share how he has a stash of Dilla beats, and how he’s only shared some of those beats with one other rapper.

“I’m extremely selective with who I give them to, which is why I haven’t given them to anybody except Raekwon and that was for Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Part Two. I think he has about four Dilla joints on that project,” Busta said. “I’ve always tried to represent and uphold the legacy of the late, great J Dilla, through all of my albums. You know what I’m saying? I think the only album I probably didn’t have them on was Back On My Bullshit.”

“I’m a huge fan of Dilla, I think Dilla is probably top three best producers in the world,’ he added. “To me, my top three favorite producers ever are Dr. Dre, Q-Tip, and J Dilla.”

Busta had previously shared that there was more work with Dilla to come. Elsewhere in the interview, Busta also talked about his involvement with A Tribe Called Quest, being friends with Biggie and Tupac, and more.
