It’s official. Busta Rhymes has begun the album rollout for his forthcoming album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God. The “Gimme Some More” legend made the reveal with the help of revered comedian and good friend Chris Rock.

On Monday (August 17), Rock posted a hilarious video to his Instagram account announcing the album’s title.

“You n*ggas can’t fuck with the god Busta Rhymes,” he sings. “You n*ggas can’t fuck with the god Busta Rhymes. You hear me n*ggas!? You n*ggas can’t fuck with the god Busta Rhymes. Do you understand!?

“You n*ggas can’t fuck with the god Busta Rhymes. God MC! You n*ggas can’t fuck with the god Busta Rhymes. Brooklyn, n*gga! You n*ggas can’t fuck with the god Busta Rhymes. Oh, Extinction Level Event 2 bitches!”

He wrote in the caption, “It’s official @bustarhymes new album is titled #ELE2. Coming soon.”

Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath Of God will serve as the sequel to Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front, which arrived in 1998.

The project received three Grammy Award nominations for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 42nd Grammy Awards. It also spawned three Billboard Hot 100 hits, including “What’s It Gonna Be?!” featuring Janet Jackson. The song peaked at No. 3 and became Busta’s highest-charting single.

In a 2018 interview with HipHopDX, Busta wouldn’t confirm his next album was titled E.L.E. 2 but didn’t deny it either. But, he thought it was going to arrive that same year. Obviously, that didn’t happen.

“It’s definitely coming this year,” he said at the time. “9th Wonder has heard the album in its entirety several times. Just Blaze, Rapsody and they have all been very vocal about it through the social media platforms, and I am super grateful to them for cosigning, their endorsements, the whole anticipation that they’ve been creating.

“They’re all legends. They’re all icons in the game and you know, when they speak, people listen. It’s something I’ve never really had happen in this dynamic where word-of-mouth and the fellow comrade endorsement publicly in this dynamic has happened at this magnitude.”

No release date for the second installment has been announced but DX will be all over it when the time comes. Until then, revisit the OG version below.
