New York, NY – Fans hoping Bobby Shmurda’s release from the Clinton Correctional Facility was imminent will have to wait. According to a spokesperson for New York’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), the rapper’s parole hearing has been delayed and will now take place the week of September 14.

Following the hearing, the Board of Parole has up to 14 days from the date of the hearing to make a decision about Shmurda’s fate. Although it’s not guaranteed he will be released on the date of his parole hearing, the latest possible date he could be freed is December 11, 2021.

Rumors of Shmurda’s impending release started floating around on social media earlier this month. The 26-year-old Miami native (real name Ackquille Pollard) originally had a parole hearing set for the week of August 17.

“Mr. Pollard is currently scheduled to appear before the Board of Parole the week of August 17, 2020,” a Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) told Complex at the time. “The Board of Parole has two weeks from the date of the interview with the incarcerated individual to render a decision.”

Shmurda and 11 other people were arrested in December 2014 by the NYPD’s Brooklyn South Violence Reduction Task Force and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Gang Unit. In September 2016, he pleaded guilty in September 2016 to conspiracy and weapons possession.
