Bobby Shmurda just hit another roadblock on his quest for freedom. According to TMZ, the incarcerated rapper was denied parole last week and will be required to serve out the remainder of his initial sentence, meaning he won’t be released until December 11, 2021.

Shmurda was arrested on gang conspiracy and gun and drug charges in 2014. The following year, he was caught trying to smuggle a “sharp metal object” into Rikers Island while in custody awaiting trial.

Shmurda has racked up at least 11 violations while behind bars, including drug possession and using a shank during a fight, which presumably played a role in the Board’s decision.

The Epic Records signee settled on a plea deal in September 2016 in exchange for pleading guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession. Consequently, he was sentenced to seven years behind bars. The other charges, which included conspiracy to commit murder, were dismissed.

Shmurda’s mother Leslie Pollard previously noted she was “very confident” he’d be granted parole. Shmurda even toyed with releasing new music as soon as he got out. But, it looks like Shmurda will have to plot his grand return next year.
