Dancehall legends Beenie Man and Bounty Killer will be the next to go head-to-head on Verzuz.

The announcement came from Verzuz’ official Twitter account on Wednesday (May 20), revealing that the Sound Clash edition of the popular battle series will go down on Saturday (May 23). This should offer some much-needed excitement on what will be a very different Memorial Day Weekend than ever before.

Both Grammy-award winning reggae stars boast massive catalogs of hits, and their history of rivalry – which peaked with Beenie marrying Bounty’s ex, but later quelled and resulted in the pair recording a song together in 2014 – should make for an interesting element to the Verzuz battle. While Bounty Killa can come with smashes like “Hey Baby,” “You Don’t Love Me (No, No, No)” and “Hip Hopera,” Beenie can dip in his arsenal for tracks like “Who Am I,” “Girls Dem Sugar” and “King Of The Dancehall.”

On Wednesday (May 23), The Shade Room reported the famed R&B acts have officially been confirmed for a Verzuz live stream. The idea had previously been discussed by both Verzuz founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland during an Instagram Live in early May.

Beenie Man and Bounty Killer’s Verzuz battle will stream on Instagram Live Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
