A couple of weeks ago when the entire world was discussing August Alsina and Jada Pinkett Smith, Rick Ross made headlines by offering the maligned New Orleans singer advice during the biggest moment of his career.

The conversation apparently shifted offline and into the studio as August released a new OG Parker-produced single with the Miami MC titled — no drumroll necessary — “Entanglements” on Sunday (July 19).

“Entanglements, is when you tangled in them sheets/Entanglements, is when you’re tangled up with me/Entanglements (The number one’s here, it’s the Biggest), is when you’re gettin’ in too deep,” August croons on the chorus while interpolating The Notorious B.I.G.’s “What’s Beef” (a track also recently sampled by Meek Mill). The latter portion of his contribution also references pulling up on a love interest while her actual lover is nowhere to be found.

While the song’s origins are clear, Rozay also drops plenty of Easter Eggs in his lyrics to keep the topic saucy.

“Shawty leanin’ on my shoulder, got her questionin’ my willpower/Jaded by her beauty, but her reputation real solid,” he quips within the opening bars of his verse while later dropping, “Tell you all my darkest stories, promise that you won’t depart/Keys to over forty cars, left me with a broken heart/Still I gotta get around, favorite artist was 2Pac.”

August released his third studio album on June 25, in which the infamous interview circulated around his high-profile situation with the Red Table Talk creator. However, the musical rollout didn’t experience the level of gravity his new single floated through the trending topics with — and the response is evident.
