Alchemist and Boldy James Announce Another Joint Album with Gritty New Single “First 48 Freestyle”
The duo’s second collaborative album, BO JACKSON, is out next month via ALC Records.
After dropping a unanimously praised collaborative album at the top of 2020, Alchemist and Boldy James are looking to go two-for-two.
The duo has announced another joint project will arrive on August 13th. Teased on Instagram last week with a clip of them in the studio (see below,) BO JACKSON is set to be released via the producer’s ALC Records banner and it will almost surely be treated to the same expansive merch package as the Alc’s previous drops (expect wearables, smoking accessories, and a number of vinyl variants.) And just so we know it’s real, the album’s lead single has landed.
On “First 48 Freestyle,” Boldy blasts a gritty trap suite with visceral and cinematic wordplay. The track extends a rare and righteous hot streak for the Detroit rapper, which commenced with his last Uncle Al link-up. Since the release of their 2020 album, The Price of Tea in China, Boldy has joined forces with a number of in-demand producers for standalone studio outings, including Sterling Toles (for Manger on McNichols,) Real Bad Man (Real Bad Boldy,) and Jay Versace (for his Griselda Records debut, The Versace Tape.) For Al, BO JACKSON will mark the producer’s first full-length of the year. In early 2021, Al showcased some of the younger stars slipping in and out of his lab on the short, but potent, This Thing of Ours EP, featuring Boldy, Pink Siifu, Maxo, Earl Sweatshirt, Navy Blue, and Sideshow.
