Jim Jones has clarified his remarks about Nas.
But he’s not backing off his assertion that he is more influential than the Queensbridge rapper.
Shannon Sharpe and Jim Jones get into a heated debate 👀after Jones claims he’s more influential than Nas and how Nas was always overshadowed by Jay-Z and DMX in his era, while Sharpe says Jim should focus on competing with current active rappers like Kendrick Lamar and Drake. pic.twitter.com/a0QEIR2x1S

“I know I made a little boo-boo when you’re talking about the sales and all this type of sh*t,” Jim Jones said of Nas. “Nas was nice when I was in high school. Nas was dope. We appreciate him. He had a little bit of a run. But Nas always came up second to [Jay-Z] and DMX and all these other people. He never had that type of influence on us, except for his first album. I used to want to dress like Nas… He had one of the illest albums of all time. I’m a real fan of Nas. But he kind of lost me after the movie Belly and sh*t like that.”
Here’s what Jones said earlier this week:
“My son can’t tell you one Nas record,” said Jim. “Let’s keep it a buck here … I got a hell of a catalog. Me, Jim Jones, myself. Gold records, platinum records, gold albums, platinum albums. Me, Jim Jones. No Diplomats, no nobody else. Check my track record, then go check everybody else track record … If you want to go to the Billboard entries, pull up Nas Billboard entries and pull up my Billboard entries.”
So far, Nas has remained silent on Jones.
