Suge Knight is serving a 28-year sentence, stemming from a manslaughter charge over a 2015 hit-and-run incident.

He will have to continue to serve that sentence.

In 2023, he filed a belated appeal, claiming the delay in filing was caused by improper assistance from his previous lawyer.

Earlier this week, Los Angeles County Judge Laura F. Priver denied the former Death Row boss’s appeal, arguing too much time had passed, and Suge seemed “insincere.”

ā€œIt is clear that the petitioner was not as isolated or as helpless to act as he wishes this court to believe,ā€ Judge Priver ruled. ā€œHe was able to file the writ in a timely manner had he chosen to do so.ā€

Suge’s lawyer, David Kenner, disagreed with the ruling.

Ā ā€œI find this decision to be shocking and unconscionable,ā€ Kenner told Rolling Stone. ā€œI think the court has grossly erred in the decision it rendered, I think it is legally improper and the court did not follow the law.ā€
