Big Boi and Sleepy Brown reunite to ensure fans their debut collaborative album as The Big Sleepover is real and still on the way.

Back in 2019, Big Boi and Sleepy Brown announced they were joining forces to release an album as The Big Sleepover. The project was initially slated to drop later that year, but has still failed to manifest two years, two postponements, and three singles down the line.

But it appears the Dungeon Family alum hasn’t given up on their collaborative album just yet. In fact, the duo took the stage in Studio 6B to ensure fans The Big Sleepover album is very real and it still very much on the way, premiering the sleek new single “Animalz” live on The Tonight Show. Against a shifting backdrop, Big Boi and Sleepy Brown tap into a sophisticated G-Funk groove with batches of romance raps, an earworming hook, and, of course a locked-in two-step. “Animalz” follows the release of their Ceelo Green-assisted 2019 single “Intentions,” as well as “The Big Sleep is Over” and “Lower Case (no cap)” with Killer Mike. Though the OutKast rapper seemed intent on having Organized Noize behind the boards for the album, the Dungeon Family production team has been featured only on the project’s lead single.

As for the album’s prospective release, it’s still expected it drop at some point this year.
