Get Kevin Crandall on the court and he’s trouble, last week he fucked around and got a triple double.

It was not too long ago that Bryson the alien flew in from the cosmos, hacked Earth’s mainframe, and began depositing mind-melting rhymes over stardust beats into the ethernet. Entering 2021 off an unrelenting run of singles and EPs the year prior, the Toledo-born emcee geared up his spacecraft for his latest, BTA World 64, a self-released LP via his label SUMALIENZ that dropped in March.

The album is Bryson in hyperdrive, and nowhere is this more apparent than “TLC,” a bass-driven whirlwind of “dope rhymes over beats” (as declared in the final bar) produced by Blu from the lauded duo Blu & Exile. An alien chasing waterfalls—celestial is an understatement. The track was originally released as the third single ahead of the BTA World 64’s drop; this week, Bryson beamed down the visuals.

Animated by SPELLWRKS (whose credits include the L’Orange & Namir Blade video “Imaginary Everything” via Mello Music Group), Bryson smokes a joint and spazzes on the mic as the aquamarine-veiled video glitches through doodles showcasing the alien’s (all lowercase) bars. Blu’s stereo-melting bass is accentuated with the frenzied colors that flicker in and out throughout the animation, creating an atmosphere of astronomical proportions. A UFO whizzes by while rhymes fall like meteors; this is intergalactic rap, and no one delivers it better than the E.T. himself.
