MF DOOM dropped a short but beautiful verse on The Avalanches’ “Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life.”

On Friday, electronic music group The Avalanches will celebrate the 20 year anniversary of their classic debut Since I Left You, (which was released in November 2000.) They are releasing a special anniversary edition of the album, which features a bunch of cool shit, like appearances and remixes from artists like Prince Paul and Black Dice.

One of the coldest goodies is a remix of “Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life,” which features MF DOOM rapping over the track, which features a sample of Nancy Wilson’s 1964 song of the same name.

It’s not clear when DOOM recorded this remix, but he sounds outstanding. On the song he uses an understated and playful flow to woo a woman. On the track he raps:

“Don’t worry, girl, take your coat off. Let me get your shoes, take a load off. May I offer you some white wine. And may I say tonight you looking mighty fine.”

This is obviously a very treasured remix for the Avalanches to be sitting on. On New Years Eve, it was announced that the legendary rapper had passed away on Halloween 2020. It is still unclear how he passed but he died at the age of 49, leaving fans and admirers mourning.

It’s unclear how much new or unheard DOOM music there is out there. But in May, Czarface (made up of Inspectah Deck and Boston duo 7L & Esoteric) released Super What?, a joint album the collective finished with DOOM in 2020. (The album was supposed to drop in April 2020, but they paused due to COVID-19.)

Before dropping this song, The Avalanches released a pretty awesome Prince Paul remix of “Since I Left You.” Stream the MF DOOM version of “Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life” below.
