Relive last night’s strictly-Shaolin installment of Verzuz.

It may have been announced in passing, but Raekwon and Ghostface Killah‘s Verzuz matchup was a very real and highly enjoyable installment of the livestream series.

The follow-up to D’Angelo‘s mostly solo session was a strictly-Shaolin affair. The duo rallied RZA, Cappadona, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killah, and even the late ODB’s son, Young Dirty Bastard, for a celebration of Wu-Tang Clan‘s legacy. Sitting in their respective thrones, the Purple Tape titans performed selections from their towering solo and collective catalogs, but weren’t shy about flexing their respective contributions to some of rap and r&b’s most decorated non-Wu-Tang cuts.

The first round was a guest verse gauntlet, pitting G Dep’s “Special Delivery” remix against OutKast’s “Skew It on the Bar-B.” When the bells rang again it was time for a collision of classics with “Ghost Deini” and “10 Bricks.” The posse cuts went wild in round three with The Chef’s “House of Flying Daggers” and a GZA-less “4th Chamber.” Stepping into the second quarter, “Mighty Healthy” and “Incarcerated Scarfaces” provided a reminder of just how potent the Rae and Ghost can be at the height of their powers. And from there, it was basically just hit after hit, running through Wu-Tang gems and iconic collaborations with Kanye West, Beyoncé, Fat Joe, and others.

Just after going off the air, Verzuz announced two more bouts. The next event will feature funk and soul giants, The Isley Brothers and Earth, Wind, and Fire. And for the 4/20 edition of the show, Method Man and Redman will be the first Verzuz guests to stage a return following their surprise appearance during D’Angelo’s set. All shows will be simulcasted on Instagram Live and Triller (following a recent acquisition.)
