One of the finest emerging urban creatives in the game, CG Naughty unveils a major joint set to spark mass interest both on the national and International Hip-Hop scene thanks to the depth and power of his message and performance. We had the chance to chat with him about his new release.
Hi CG Naughty, how are you? So far, how has this year been going for you?
I’m great and This year has been colossal and it’s getting better everyday… working towards my dream and seeing things come to life
Did you have a contract with Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Company, or were you friends with Nipsey?
No I didn’t have a contract with him.. we met and hung out in the studio a couple days, worked on some music, Then I left
Please tell us more about your childhood, did you start music then or later in life?
Typical childhood of a young black male. Single parent household, dad was gone. Not dead or jail, just gone. I had to figure it all out on my own. The hard way. I started music young. I started writing my first songs around 11 years old
Congratulations on your new release “Look Into My Eyes,” we loved the powerful message you convey through the song. Could you tell us more about the inspiration behind it and what made you create it?
The inspiration was the beat. When I heard it it made me think about all the things I’ve seen in my life, which is a lot. And I wanted to give ppl a view of life through my eyes. Real life and real life issues that matters
How would you describe your style?
I would describe it as versatile and unorthodox
Who are the artists that inspire you, past and present?
Jay-z, Lil Wayne, Jadakiss, and currently Future. His work ethic and consistency is crazy
What is your main motivation to make music?
My main motivation is to inspire. I’m an OG in this shit and as an OG it’s my responsibility to help advise and guide the ones under me. Give them insight and direction, because for the most part, all the other artists just sending them off
-Is there one major event in your life that helped you become the artist you are today?
Definitely going to jail. That was the first time I ever got the chance to just sit down, think and read. It made me begin to look at life differently and see that a lot of shit I thought was important really wasn’t
Any upcoming projects for 2021 you would like to share with us?
I’m just dropping singles.. I gotta get the ppl familiar with me so imma just keep hitting them with bangers until I get the attention I deserve.
