Noname Releases Politically-Charged Single “Rainforest”
Noname’s new track “Rainforest” arrives after she spoke out about why she didn’t appear on the soundtrack for Judas and the Black Messiah.
Noname has released her first track of 2021, “Rainforest.”
A few weeks back, the Chicago rapper teased that she’d be revealing the single by candidly tweeting about it. She also alluded to the fact that she’s unsure of how to promote new music.
Featuring vocals by Adam Ness and artwork by Pola Maneli, the Kount-produced track features Noname’s thoughts on billionaires and the political climate of the U.S. She also raps about the fleeting feelings of love, how it feels to live on stolen land and America’s obsession with consumerism. If we could use one word to describe this track we’d use “revolutionary.”
After the single dropped, Kount took to his Twitter account to share that he’d previously unveiled the process behind making the beat back in 2020. In a video, he walks viewers through his creative process.

Noname recently spoke out turning down being a part of the soundtrack for Judas and the Black Messiah starring Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield after seeing the film. Earlier this month, in a tweet that’s now-deleted she shared that her fans should “go study Fred Hampton’s analysis on U.S. imperialism and fascism beyond just seeing the movie.”
Factory Baby, Noname’s forthcoming album is set to drop later this year. The release would serve as a follow-up to Room 25 which dropped in 2018.
