The new Goodie Mob album features an appearance from OutKast, just not as OutKast.

Following a seven-year hiatus, Goodie Mob has returned with their sixth studio album.

Pandemic-proofed and aptly-titled, Survival Kit, wrangles a group of rap titans for a funk-fueled showcase of the ATLien group’s latest exploits. Entirely produced by Organized Noize, the 16-track album commences with a sirening appearance from Chuck D on “Are You Ready,” but also features contributions from OutKast, just not as OutKast. André 3000 caps “No Cigar” with his first feature verse of 2020, which is immediately followed by a Big Boi cameo on the song, “Prey 4 Da Sheep,” quelling any speculation over a prospective reunion from the Dungeon Family vets.

While Big Boi has kept his output consistent with feature-heavy solo projects every few years, the other half of OutKast has slipped into full recluse mode, making few appearances on record, but popping up in public every once in a while, double-flute in hand, and usually willing to take photos with whoever has the luck of spotting him. Andre 3000’s last feature verse appeared on Anderson .Paak‘s 2019 album, Ventura, where he joined a prestigious guest list that included Smokey Robinson, Jazmine Sullivan, Lalah Hathaway, Brandy, and the late Nate Dogg.

The Three Stacks verse on “No Cigar” arrives in a landmark year for Goodie Mob, who is celebrating the 25th-anniversary of their debut album, Soul Food. To mark the anniversary, the group released an expanded edition of the album, featuring eight new a capellas and edits. OutKast toasted their own anniversary this year, celebrating 20 years of Stankonia with a deluxe edition of the seminal album, featuring unreleased remixes and standalone vocal tracks.
