Just call her Cardi Balenciaga.

The Bronx-bred rapper and longtime Balenciaga enthusiast has officially landed her first high-fashion campaign, courtesy of the luxury brand. The debut ad spot was self-produced during the quarantine and premiered Tuesday (September 1) plastered on the side of historic Paris art museum The Louvre.

“Ya lookin at the face of a @Balenciaga campaign,” Cardi wrote with pictures of the ad on Instagram. “I remember how I felt seeing myself on a billboard in NYC Times Square but PARIS! Wish I was there to see it in person!”

The new campaign comes as Bardi’s riding high off the success of her Megan Thee Stallion-assisted single “WAP.” The track has already broken numerous records since its August 7 debut, including the highest first-week streams of 2020 and becoming the first female rap collaboration to top the Billboard Hot 100. The song is also already certified gold, receiving the certification from the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) just one week after it was released.

“WAP” currently sits at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200, following two weeks at the top spot, the second of which brought stiff competition from Drake and Lil Durk’s massive collab “Laugh Now, Cry Later.” Cardi and Megan prevailed, however, surpassing the guys’ 69.8 million and securing a No. 1 for “WAP” for a second time. Both acts were bested by K-Pop group BTS and their new song “Dynamite” for week three.
