Earlier this week, a Busta Rhymes and Drake track from when Busta was still signed to Cash Money leaked onto the internet. The J Dilla produced “Stay Down” was well received by fans but not by Busta’s longtime friend and collaborator Swizz Beatz.

The Verzuz co-founder chatted with Busta during a recent Instagram Live session and said that his “filter [was] burnt” when it came to the song leaking for public consumption.

“That kid is a good kid as well,” Swizz said. “He’s not a bad kid, he’s a good kid. He started from different things, we made hit record together, it’s all love. I just wanna play music. Because my filter is burnt. Because at the end of the day, niggas is pussy for real. What’s up? Pop off. Let’s go.”

When “Stay Down” leaked on Wednesday (June 17), Busta was caught by surprise and was unaware of how it even was leaked in the first place. As he and Swizz continued discussing the song on Instagram Live, the legendary MC said it wasn’t a slight to him on how the collaboration first came to be as well as how it wound up being released without his say.

“I don’t want to get it misconstrued,” Busta said. “He didn’t come to me to make a record with me. He wanted to do Dilla beat. Dilla beats, that’s what it was about. That’s all I’m saying.”

Even as Busta attempted to smooth the situation out, Swizz wasn’t having it as his overall issue comes from the fact that it was leaked and was no longer in Busta’s control.

“My whole energy was based off of something that got leaked that you couldn’t put out, no matter what the circumstances is,” Swizz said. “That’s a guy, that’s a little guy and we made a lot of great things together. It’s not personal. I got no personal things. If it was personal, we’d shoot your plane out the sky.”
