Snoop Dogg added a new wrinkle to his already extensive résumé in music, earning his first Top 5 entry on the Hot Latin Songs chart. The West Coast legend’s “Que Maldición” collaboration with Banda MS de Sergio Lizárrga debuted at No. 4.

“I’ve always been a fan of banda music, and the collab just felt right with Banda MS,” Snoop told Billboard. “I’ve been feeling all the love and positive feedback from around the world. More than ever, the world needs some fun and joy, which this song brings to everyone.”

Banda music is a genre of regional Mexican music that typically features brass and wind instruments. Billboard reports the Banda MS de Sergio Lizárrga’s Snoop-assisted single is the highest-charting regional Mexican song since 2015.

“It was an organic collaboration,” Alan Ramirez, one of the band’s vocalists, noted. “It all started when we received a few videos by Snoop singing our songs. We then realized he liked our music! We first recorded ‘Que Maldición’ in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, and then sent our part to Snoop for his blessing. He loved it and returned the song with his built-in magic.”
