Salt Lake City, UT – Post Malone summoned the spirit of the late Kurt Cobain for a COVID-19 benefit on Friday (April 24). The 15-song, 80-minute set included classic Nirvana songs such as “About a Girl,” “Heart-Shaped Box” and “Come As You Are.”

With his Bud Light in hand and rocking a floral dress in true Cobain fashion, the multiplatinum-selling artist was joined by Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, bassist Brian Lee and guitarist Nick Mack who were all practicing social distancing in other rooms inside Post’s Salt Lake City home.

And while the consensus on social media was overwhelmingly positive, the event was about more than simply sharing a few tunes with his fans. According to TMZ, he raised $1 million within the first hour of the virtual concert and the number has since climbed to over $4.3 million.

Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselić said, “I don’t think these fellows can play any better. They are on fire!!!!” while adding he was “holding emotions back the whole show.”

Cobain’s widow and lead singer of Hole Courtney Love also weighed in on social media with, “GOOSEBUMPS! FUCK YES.”

Fans can still donate on the YouTube page of the performance. All proceeds go to the United Nations Foundation’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization.
