The ‘Gram – The Instagram Live beat battle between heavyweight producers Boi-1da and Hit-Boy on Friday (March 27) set social media on fire and caused many of its viewers including Timbaland and Swizz Beatz to discuss who got next.

Alchemist and TIDAL Chief Content Officer Elliott Wilson spoke about Instagram Live producers’ beat battles during an At Home With TIDAL interview the same platform on Monday.

“I’m tuned in. I love a good skirmish. I love a good squabble,” Alchemist said as he and Wilson mutually laughed.

“It can be over anything, man. I like what’s going on. Obviously, it’s entertainment for us all to see everybody flexing like that. And it’s really a celebration at the end of the day.

“The showmanship is cool because that’s part of the art of battling. But really what’s being displayed is insane.”

After suggesting there should be battles on Instagram Live between veteran engineers Eddie Sancho and Ken “Duro” Ifill or longtime JAY-Z associate Young Guru, Wilson mentioned that instigators on social media have been buzzing for the LULU EP producer to face off against beat maestro extraordinaire Madlib.

Alchemist’s face became expressionless and conceded defeat to The Bad Kid without hesitation.

“Madlib would absolutely destroy me. Are you crazy, man? I ain’t going up against that man.” Alchemist said in a deadpan manner.

“Madlib is like my idol. That’s my brother, too. He’s in another planet on his own. He’s his own genre.”

Madlib scored Freddie Gibbs’ Bandana album, one of the only two albums which received a perfect rating from RealStreetRadio along with Rapsody’s EVE in 2019.
