15 New Hip-Hop & R&B Albums You Should Be Listening To (Week of October 1)
This week Meek Mill, OOMPA, and Lil Wayne return to share albums that make up our favorite albums of the week. There are also notable drops from CRIMEAPPLE, Cookin’ Soul and Carter Ace.
To be honest, this past week was a blur, but we’ve finally made it to New Music Friday. This lineup of releases doesn’t disappoint this time around. There’s something for everyone mainly since some of the year’s biggest releases have been unleashed (yes, we mean Drake and Kanye). Anyways, Meek Mill has finally dropped his latest album and JoJo has emerged like a phoenix to give her fans a new EP.
Meek Mill’s Expensive Pain has surfaced and on it, he’s as hungry as ever, this time he’s back with features from Moneybagg Yo, Lil Uzi Vert, and more; Lil Wayne & Rich The Kid have shared Trust Fund Babies, and rising Boston rapper Oompa drops UNBOTHERED an album riddled with self-reflective undertones and vibrant lyrics.
For those who prefer a more mellow R&B listen JoJo’s Trying Not To Think About It might be just for you; give Ryan Trey’s A 64 East Saga a spin while you’re at it; Carter Ace’s The One and Lonely is packed with refreshing vibes, and Lonr.’s experimental Land Of Nothing Real 2 also arrived today.
Hip-hop heads with an ear for production should focus on DJ Muggs x CRIMEAPPLE’s Cartagena; then there’s also Cookin’ Soul’s Good Job featuring appearances from Freddie Gibbs, Curren$y, Mac Miller and more, and Headie One’s Too Loyal For My Own Good.
Additional drops include releases from Booka600, Drew Famous, Polyester The Saint, T-Rell, and Icewear Vezzo.
